SWLP Library District

Welcome to the website for our state’s youngest library district. We are striving for increased community awareness and participation.  We invite you to explore our pages and to contact us we questions or comments.

Southwest La Plata Library District is the result of citizens dedicated to saving their two rural libraries so that the libraries could continue promoting lifelong learning in these communities.

We are grateful that our citizens trust us with their tax dollars.  Our mission is to use this fiscal resource wisely.  We are also grateful for our current partner, Durango School District 9R.  We are striving for increased local participation in our community-owned Sunnyside and Fort Lewis Mesa Public Libraries as they continue to enrich the educational, social, and cultural opportunities in Southwest La Plata County.

As your board, we pledge to provide resources, services, and expertise that will inspire our residents of all ages to read, explore, ask, and discover.  It is our goal that our libraries continually and perpetually encourage reading, supplement learning, and provide access to technology.
