Sunnyside Regional Artist Series features Zoey Yeargin through March.
As an artist as well as a musician I intend to translate the core sensory elements of my experiences and memories into a visual format. These pieces take the sounds, pictures, and words that culminate in my mind from distant (but emotionally significant) memories or present momentary experiences and display them as the immediate design that I’ve interpreted from those elements. This tends to result in expressive almost impressionist color, linework, and forms, all produced in traditional mediums of paint, ink, graphite, or charcoal or as stylized digital paintings. I treat art as an alternative form of documentation to photography, writing, or recording, whether that is from these illustrative interpretations of memories or life drawing. I have spent a lot of time traveling, exploring new places and meeting new people. It is my hope that my art reflects the vibrant experiences that I’ve had and the growth it spawned in my ability to interpret the world around me. I am now much quicker and responsive with my designs, but use my downtime to polish and clean these creations. I am constantly inspired by the documentation of other people’s lives and spaces that I see from artists around me and artists that inhabit the same spaces as me online. It is my hope that my recordings of my experiences provide the same value to others.
